42V Power Net
The electric and eletromechanical plant and parts engineering in the car industry have reached a high technological and industrial level of development, reliability and diffusion. This is matched by a series of analyses and debates which give voice to a philosophical question evoking modern scepticism which can be summarized in one single word: why?
The answer to this question, as well as this debate’s summary, is banal and predictable:
a feeding voltage higher than the current one but at a more competitive cost is going to be introduced. What seems obvious in its simplicity needs a more serious analysis to understand the reasons behind the change and its implications.

Preliminary Analysis

Increasingly significant demands have arisen in the car industry in the last few years, these are:

Safety
Comfort
Lower fuel consumption
Lower polluting emissions

Technologies and electric appliances have been utilized in order to meet all types of demands.
These have contributed to increasing electric power installed on middle of the range cars by 50%
as opposed to the same vehicles built in 1980.

GLORYTECH presently develops, based on standard blade fuse types, blade fuses for electrical
networks for test application up to 58V which is suitable for the upcoming 42V-Powernet.
Goal of our development is to give our customers the possibility to use their existing technology
This was the main reason for using a well known construction based on the existing blade-fuse-links.
The dimensions are according to the existing blade fuse. The melting characteristic, resistance and
voltage-drop is similar to the today’s 32V product.
The outcome is a product that is suitable for the new voltage requirements and also suitable for
the exiting terminals, fuse boxes and inserting systems. This saves customers investment.
Standard fuses are rated at 32V and use in a 42V system causes problems ranging from severe
damage to the vehicle wiring and components to extreme hazards such as fire.
Our 58V fuses enable it to perform well in upcoming 42V electrical systems.
